Hello, my name is Jiayu Zhang. Welcome to my homepage!

I’m a third-year PhD student at Columbia IEOR. My research interests include optimization for machine learning, stochastic optimization, and nonconvex optimization. Before joining Columbia, I received a B.S. in Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Nov 2025      The paper, Non-convex self-concordant functions: Practical algorithms and complexity analysis, coauthored with Donald Goldfarb, Lexiao Lai, and Tianyi Lin was on arxiv:2511.15019.

Oct 2025      I received my master’s degree from Columbia University.
